Paul is a second generation Barbershopper - his father Roger has been singing barbershop since 1972. Paul grew up in a home of harmony and ringing chords. He sang in church and school choirs, contemporary bands and yes, barbershop groups while growing up.

He started singing Barbershop when he was ten years old. His first barbershop experience was with the Greendale Midwest Vocal Express which was then forming under the direction of Frank Marzocco. At the ripe old age of eleven he joined the Rockvalley Badgerchord hawks under the direction of his father. At age eleven Paul joined his first barbershop quartet, Family Ties.

This group was comprised of father Roger at Baritone brother Keith on Lead and surrogate uncle John Lowell at Bass. Paul brought home the high notes at tenor.

Family Ties was crowned the Land’O’Lakes District Champions in 1991 and went on to compete at the International level three times

As a senior in high school Paul and his brother formed Das Rheingold with friends Gordon Moe and Mark McLauren. Das Rheingold competed in the District Quartet Competition in 1997, where they were crowned the Land’O’Lakes silver medallists. During the time that Das Rheingold was forming, Paul and his brother also formed a college quartet called Freefall. In the Summer of 1997 Freefall won the MBNA Collegiate International Contest and participated in the Buckeye Invitational. Upon the retirement of Freefall the members split to the four corners of the country. Robb Askloff (tenor) moved to Gainesville, FL to study for his Masters degree in Vocal Pedagogy. Steve Rodgers (lead) moved to New Haven, CT to attend Yale University for his Masters in Musical Composition. Keith Harris (bass) moved to Seattle, WA to study for his Masters degree in Voice Performance.

Paul has also been one of the assistant directors of the Fox Valleyaires and later became the Musical Director of the Green Bay Sweet Adeline’s chapter.

Paul attended Lawrence University in Appleton, WI where he studied voice performance and music education. After his freshman year he transferred to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where he graduated with a double degree in Business Administration: Management Information Systems and Human Resource Management in June of 2002. Paul later graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a Masters Certification in Project Management.

Currently Paul lives in Oshkosh, WI with his little buddy (cat) Solomon. He works for Bemis Packaging doing Graphic Arts, Web Design, system integration and online learning development. He enjoys spending time on the lake, sports, cars, and maybe even singing.
